2017 Winter Information

The club would like to formally announce the appointment of Josh Velez at the Head Coach for the 2017. As most people around the club will know, Josh was our Number 1 draft pick of 2016 and was voted MVP as well as scoring the most points for the season. Josh has plenty of experience in the game and some great theories on playing an exciting style of hockey.

We will be looking to put a strong support crew around Josh this year and as such we have appointed Mark Smith and Stephen Nesbitt as his Senior Assistants. Stephen has also been appointed as game coach for the Senior A team.

Mark has been with the club for many years and helped Lee Brown on the bench while he has been coming back from an injury. Hopefully he will be able to get on the ice at some time during the season.

Stephen has been a leader within the C1 group for a number of years and with the change in structure this year the club feels his leadership and experience will be a great asset in the new grade.

Josh will be leading the practice tonight and we hope everyone will get behind him.

Due to the lack of ice time that is available, the pre-season practice times are essentially try-outs for the winter teams.

Tonight’s practice will be a try out for both the Premier division and the Senior A side.

Anyone attending tonight will be considered for inclusion into the Premier Division side for Round 1.

It is not compulsory to be available to play in the checking division and if you do not want to be considered to play at that level please let Josh or Stephen know as early as possible.

It is expected that positions on all teams will be extremely competitive. No one in the club is pigeon-holed to a particular division and we hope every player takes every opportunity to improve.

Best of luck to the coaches and players for the 2017 season.
